Whether you’re preparing a refreshing cucumber salad with basil, a colourful fruit salad, a fragrant tabbouleh or even a tasty quiche lorraine, the Smart Cuisine Diwali collection is your perfect ally. Need some inspiration for your outdoor meals?

Here are some simple and delicious recipe ideas with the Smart Cuisine Diwali collection:

Cucumber salad with basil :

Refreshing and full of flavour, this salad is perfect to accompany your summer barbecues.

  • 2 cucumbers
  • 1 lemon
  • A few pine nuts
  • 8 basil leaves
  • 5 cl olive oil
  • 2 tsp mustard
  • salt and pepper

 

Wash the cucumbers and cut into thin strips with a vegetable peeler. Place in a colander with salt to drain for 30 mins. Wash the basil leaves, set aside 4 and chop the remaining leaves. Lightly crush the pine nuts. For the vinaigrette: mix the mustard, chopped basil, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper.
Pour over the cucumber slices and garnish the salad with the reserved basil leaves and pine nut pieces.

Fruit salad balls :

An explosion of colours and flavours that will delight your guests’ taste buds, ideal for a light and refreshing end to a meal.

 

  • 2 very ripe yellow melons (refrigerate for at least
  • 2 hours to keep them fresh)
  • 4 ripe yellow peaches (chilled in the fridge for at least 2 hours)
  • 150 g blackberries
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • A few mint leaves for decoration
  • 1 melon baller

 

Cut the melons in 2 and remove the seeds with a tablespoon. Wash the peaches and pat dry. Remove the skin from the peaches using a peeler. Using a melon baller, scoop out 1 melon and 4 peaches. Place the fruit balls in the other 2 melon halves and drizzle the fruit balls with a spoonful of lemon juice. Add the blackberries.
Garnish with a few mint leaves.


Tabbouleh :

Fresh, light and fragrant, tabbouleh is a classic for outdoor meals. Prepare it with fresh herbs and crunchy vegetables for an irresistible result.

  • 200 g wheat semolina
  • 100 g peppers
  • 300 g tomato
  • 200 g cucumber
  • 50 g cherry tomatoes
  • 100 g mushrooms
  • 100 g onion
  • 300 ml water
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. rapeseed oil
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • Mint leaves
  • salt & pepper
  • Basil

Batch cooking, a practice that originated in English-speaking countries, is synonymous with simplicity and efficiency to optimise your daily routine. This method, which involves preparing all the week’s meals in a single cooking session, reduces the mental burden and ensures balanced meals while saving precious time during the week.

One of the keys to successful Batch Cooking is food storage. Preparing large quantities of food requires an effective solution to guarantee the freshness and flavour of meals. That’s where our Smart Cuisine Lids come in, offering an innovative solution that makes it easy not only to prepare, but also to store your delicious culinary creations.


Our Smart Cuisine Lids are easy to use, durable, easy to clean and dishwasher safe. These dishes are ideal for healthy cooking at temperatures of up to 250°C.


Successful batch cooking starts with thorough preparation of your vegetables.

Start by washing your vegetables and peeling them if necessary.
Cut them up for quick and easy cooking.
Place the vegetables in your smart cuisine lids and add one or two tablespoons of oil, seasoning to taste.
Vary the vegetables according to the season, and watch out for ingredients that cook too quickly (chopped garlic, finely chopped onions, etc.).
Put your Smart cuisine dish in the oven at 190°C for 25/30 minutes, remembering to keep an eye on it.

Once your vegetables are cooked, leave them to rest so that the dish can cool. Then place the lid on and store your vegetables in the fridge.

Huiles & Olives is also home to more than 600 recipes based around French Olive Oils and Olives – easy, elaborate, traditional or exotic, there’s something for everyone! Huiles-et-olives.fr is run by teams from France Olive, the olive-growing interprofession, which represents the entire French olive-growing industry. So, on our site, we talk about Huiles d’Olive de France and Olives de France in a general way, without highlighting any particular producer/area/mill. However, an interactive map will give you all the contact details you need to buy French olive products!

Scallops with Orange-Mandarin and diced roasted pumpkin

Ingredients:10 scallops2 organic oranges1 tangerine (or clementine)

1 to 2 teaspoons Timut pepper

20 g butter

4 tablespoons subtle

French olive oil

Salt

800 g pumpkin

2 tangerines

Pepper

Espelette pepper

1 clove garlic

Some coriander leaves

Preparation: For the roasted pumpkin cubes:

1. Preheat the oven to 180-190°C (gas mark 6-7).

2. Peel the pumpkin, remove the seeds and cut into 1 cm cubes.

3. Cut an orange into segments without the skin.

4. In a salad bowl, mix the diced pumpkin, 2 tablespoons of subtle French olive oil, the juice of 2 mandarins, the crushed garlic clove, salt, pepper and Espelette chilli pepper. Place the mixture in a dish and cook in the oven for around 30 minutes.

5 . Stir the diced pumpkin halfway through cooking.

6 . 5 minutes before the end of cooking time, add half the orange segments, cut into equal pieces, to the diced pumpkin (reserve the remaining segments for garnishing).

The sauce:

Remove some zest from the other orange.

Squeeze the juice from half an orange and half a mandarin orange using our lemon squeezer.

Crush the Timut pepper in a mortar.

In a frying pan, sauté 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the juices.

Meanwhile, fry the scallops in a little butter and olive oil for 3 minutes on each side, seasoning lightly with salt.

Season lightly with salt

Dressage :

Place 2 tablespoons of diced pumpkin with the orange segments (both hot and cold) on the Diana plates.

Add a little citrus sauce and sprinkle with cracked Timut pepper and zest.

Garnish with a few coriander leaves.

1. Parmentier of Duck and Mashed Sweet Potatoes

 

Duck Parmentier is a comforting classic, perfect for chilly days.

 

Ingredients:

  • For the duck confit:
  • 4 confit duck legs
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the mashed sweet potatoes:

  • 3 large sweet potatoes,
  • peeled and cut into chunks
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper, to 

 

For mounting :

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese (gruyere, emmental, cheddar, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  1. Start by slowly cooking duck legs confit in our baking dish, until tender and juicy. Meanwhile, prepare a smooth mash of sweet potatoes with a touch of butter and nutmeg.
  2. Once the duck has been shredded, layer it with the mashed potatoes in the dish and broil in the oven until you obtain a golden and crispy crust.
  3. Each bite of this parmentier will enchant you with its rich and comforting flavors.

2. Spinach and Ricotta Lasagna

 

Lasagna is a culinary hug, and our baking dish will make the perfect setting for a vegetarian version of fresh spinach and creamy ricotta.

 

We will need:

 

For the lasagna layers:

  • 12 to 15 sheets of fresh or pre-cooked lasagne

 

For the spinach and ricotta filling:

  • 500 g fresh spinach, washed and stemmed
  • 250 g of ricotta
  • Zest of a lemon
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

 

For the tomato sauce:

  • 2 cups tomato sauce (homemade or store bought)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For mounting :

  • 1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella, parmesan, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

 

  1. Between the layers of fresh pasta, alternate a generous layer of sautéed spinach with garlic and ricotta mixed with a hint of lemon.
  2. Cover everything with homemade tomato sauce and sprinkle with grated cheese.
  3. After slow cooking in our oven dish, each serving of lasagna will be a celebration of flavor and comfort.

3. Rustic Apple Pie Dessert

should not be left out when it comes to warming the soul. For a sweet touch of comfort, make a rustic apple pie.

 

To do this you will need:

 

For the dough:

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons of cold water

 

For the apple filling:

 

  • 4-5 apples (preferably firm, sweet varieties),
  • peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon of vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

For the finish:

  • 1 beaten egg (to glaze)
  • Granulated sugar (for sprinkling)
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional, to serve)

 

  1. Roll out a puff pastry in our pie dish, then arrange slices of fresh apples mixed with cinnamon, brown sugar and a pinch of nutmeg.

We offer you a variety of appetising, practical and easy-to-prepare options that will allow you to make the most of your outdoor outings without compromising on your taste buds. Discover 5 tasty recipes and lots of tips for making the most of your picnics.

Let’s start with some sweet and savoury cakes that can be packed away in a tin and taken on a picnic.

Goat’s cheese and honey muffins

For 8 muffins, you’ll need:

  • 100 gr semi-salted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 60 gr honey
  • 4 cl milk
  • 180 g wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • ½ tsp flower of salt
  • 150 g goat’s cheese

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C
  2. Put the butter in a bowl and melt in the microwave.
  3. Mix the eggs with 30g of honey and the milk. Add the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate and flower of salt.
  4. Add the melted butter and mix well until the mixture is lump-free.
  5. Divide the batter between 8 buttered muffin tins.
  6. Cut the goat’s cheese into 8 equal slices and place 1 slice on each muffin.
  7. Add a little honey to each piece of goat’s cheese.
  8. Place in the oven for 25 mins, keeping a close eye on the colouring. When cooked, remove from the oven, leave to cool and remove from the mould. Store them in a tin and they’ll be ready to enjoy at your picnic!

advice: For the goat’s cheese, to give a better result and make even slices, take a goat’s cheese log.

Parmesan and oregano shortbread

To continue the aperitif of your picnic, here are some shortbread but not sweet, they are good for the aperitif!

You’ll need :

  • 180 gr flour
  • 1 egg
  • 70g soft semi-salted butter
  • 45 cl olive oil
  • 50 g Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 heaped tsp dried oregano or thyme
  • Salt of flower

Preparation:

  • Mix the soft butter with the olive oil, cheese, salt, oregano and egg in a bowl to obtain a cream.
  • Add the flour and mix quickly without working the dough.
  • Wrap in cling film and leave to rest in the fridge for 1 hour.
  • Roll out the pastry to a thickness of 3 mm, then cut out the shape you want for your shortbread.
  • Arrange the shortbread on a baking tray. Sprinkle with fleur de sel and a little oregano. Press lightly so that the spices stick to the shortbread.
  • Place in the freezer for 20 mins or in the fridge for 30 mins.
  • Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until the shortbread is just golden. Leave to cool before eating or sealing to transport.

Courgette, goat’s cheese and fresh mint cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 courgette
  • 1 goat’s crottin
  • 1 bunch mint
  • 170 g flour
  • 1 sachet baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g fresh goat’s cheese
  • 5 cl olive oil
  • 10 cl warm milk

To prepare the cake: 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C
  2. Wash and grate the courgette, then spread it out on a sheet of kitchen roll so that it loses its water.
  3. Pour the flour, baking powder and egg into a bowl. Mix everything together and add the crumbled fresh goat’s cheese, the oil and finally the milk, little by little.
  4. Mix to form a smooth dough.
  5. Add the courgette, the cubed goat’s cheese and the mint, washed, dried and chopped. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Pour the mixture into a cake tin and bake for 45 minutes.

Tip: leave your cake to cool before turning it out of the tin so that it doesn’t break.

Potato, egg and herb mayonnaise salad.

It wouldn’t be a real picnic without a salad to take away in a tin!

You will need (for 4 people):

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 5 eggs + 1 egg white
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 pinch curry powder
  • ½ lemon
  • 15 cl sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp strong mustard
  • ½ bunch chervil
  • 10 sprigs chives
  • 8 tarragon leaves

Preparation:

  1. Place the peeled and quartered onion in a bowl of water filled with ice cubes and leave for 30 mins.
  2. Cook the potatoes with their skins on in a large pan of boiling water for 20 mins. Drain and leave to cool.
  3. Meanwhile, harden 5 eggs in boiling water. Rinse under cold water and peel.
  4. Place the egg white and mustard in a bowl, mix and whip the mayonnaise, pouring in the oil in a thin stream while whisking, until the consistency is firm. Add a few drops of lemon juice and the curry powder.
  5. Wash and remove the leaves from the herbs and chop as finely as possible.
  6. Add them to the mayonnaise, season with salt and pepper, cover with cling film and chill.
  7. Peel the potatoes when they have cooled and place in a salad bowl with the mayonnaise, drained and finely chopped onion and mix. Quarter the hard-boiled eggs and add to the salad, season generously with pepper and serve chilled.

Tips: You can lighten the salad by replacing the herb mayonnaise with fromage blanc. You can replace the eggs with cold fish, roast beef, pork or veal. You can add a few pieces of apple to give the salad a tangy, crunchy flavour.

We’ll finish our recipe ideas with a picnic essential:

Courgette and basil club sandwich 

You will need:

  • 1 courgette
  • 15 basil leaves
  • 250g chicken fillets
  • 8 thin slices of bacon
  • 60 g mayonnaise
  • 2 round tomatoes
  • 6 slices sandwich bread

To prepare:

  1. Poach the chicken fillets. Put them in a saucepan of salted water and bring to the boil; immediately lower the heat and leave to simmer for 10 mins. Cover, remove from the heat and leave to rest for 15 mins. All that’s left to do is drain them.
  2. Stir the finely chopped basil leaves into the mayonnaise. Season with salt. Wash and slice the courgette and tomatoes.
  3. Toast the bread.
  4. Spread the mayonnaise on one side of the bread slices. Place the chicken, tomatoes, courgette and bacon on a slice of bread and close with another slice.
  5. Assemble another layer in the same way. Cut the club sandwich into four triangles and secure with wooden skewers.

Tip:Don’t hesitate to use other vegetables of your choice!

On hot summer days, there’s nothing better than ice cream to cool off the kids and adults alike. Ready in less than 15 minutes with ingredients we all have at home, this cottage cheese ice cream is sure to delight everyone. 

Strawberry, chocolate or banana, there is no shortage of ideas. Just mix simple ingredients to make yoghurt ice cream. The best part? Fruit flavour at its best! 

Choose your favourite fruit and try our ice cream recipe!

 

 Ingredients of cottage cheese ice cream (6 pots) 

  • 12 yoghurts
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • 250 grams of strawberries
  • 4 bananas

 

Preparation steps

  1. Wash and dry the fruit. Cut them into pieces. 
  2. Place the banana pieces on a plate and mash them with a fork until you have a smooth purée.
  3. Then in another plate mash the strawberry pieces in the same way.
  4. Pour the yoghurt into a bowl and add 2 teaspoons of honey.
  5. Add 2 spoonfuls of mashed bananas to the mixture.
  6. Fill the glasses with the strawberry or banana puree first, followed by the yoghurt.
  7. Then insert a wooden stick in the centre of each glass and place the glasses in the freezer for 4 hours.
  8. A final touch? Add whipped cream, strawberry pieces or flaked almonds.
  9. To enjoy the fruit ice cream, prepare a large bowl of hot water and quickly dip the glasses into the bowl (2 sec).

 

How to store homemade ice cream?

Homemade ice cream is delicious and above all healthy! However, it is rarely possible to eat it all at once. In order to enjoy your ice cream a few days later, it is important to know how to store it properly. Below we tell you how to protect the taste and texture for as long as possible.

Keep the rest of the glasses filled with ice cream in the freezer at a temperature of -10 to -15°C so that they do not harden too much. In principle, they should not be kept for more than a week. Also, once thawed, you cannot put them back in the freezer.
